Timothy Helt

Timothy Helt, son of Lawrence and Adelaide Helt, of Thief River Falls, Minnesota passed away April 6, 2024 at the age of 65 with family at his side. He was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother William. He is survived by his sister Roberta Wesolowski of Fargo, ND, and brother David Helt of Racine, WI.

Tim was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on February 28, 1959 and was baptized in the Catholic Church. He attended school in Thief River Falls then moved to Fargo, North Dakota where he graduated from North High School.

After high school Tim enlisted in the Marine Corps and served overseas in Okinawa, Japan as a heavy equipment operator in the ports. Tim enjoyed swimming and diving with friends in the China Sea. He trained in martial arts and participated in tournaments on the weekends.

After receiving an honorable discharge Tim attended Moorhead State University. He worked summers at a children’s camp in Florida teaching horseback riding and other activities with friends. He moved to Lake Tahoe, Nevada where he worked with the IBM AS/400 computer system. Tim trained for and performed in dance and musical shows on weekends.

Tim then moved back to Thief River Falls and worked for several businesses including American Crystal Sugar, Polaris Industries, DigiKey, and Arctic Cat. He also organic farmed raising specialty crops, Charolais cattle, and American Cream draft horses. Tim traveled attending horse shows, snowmobile shows, many Rolling Stones shows and other concerts. He enjoyed farm life working with horses, snowmobiles, and cars. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and relatives.

The family is holding a memorial service at 10:00 AM Friday, May 31, 2024 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN, with visitation one hour prior, with a luncheon following the service. Interment will take place at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
