Tommies beat Johnnies in Mens Basketball

(St. Paul, MN/Minnesota News Network) — The St. Thomas men’s basketball team beat Division III Saint John’s last night 80-56. The game renewed the long-time rivalry for the first time since just before St. Thomas made the jump to Division I. Tommies star Nolan Minessale scored 30 points to lead the way for St. Thomas, which outscored the Johnnies 45-25 after halftime. Kyle Johnson led Saint John’s with 15 points. St. Thomas improved to 8-5 on the season, while the game does not count against Saint John’s record as a Division III team playing against a D-I squad and will register as an exhibition game. The Tommies will visit UNC-Asheville tomorrow at 1 P-M.
