Tommies get good news
(St. Paul, MN) — The St. Thomas athletic programs received some good news yesterday, as the N-C-A-A has given preliminary approval of shortening by one-year the amount of time the Tommies have to wait to play in N-C-A-A Division Championship Tournaments. If St. Thomas hits certain criteria, it will be eligible for tournament action next season in all sports. Currently, the Tommies are waiting out a five-year transition period as they moved into Division I from Division III. That five-year period shrinks to four years when the Tommies hit their provisional tasks. The ruling means the men’s and women’s basketball and hockey programs could play in their respective N-C-A-A Tournaments in as soon as 2026, should they qualify.
