TRAIN VS. SEMI NEAR SLEEPY EYE
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office was called to a collision between a semi and a train at 24170 Highway 14 near Sleepy Eye Friday afternoon. Authorities say the semi was driven by 24-year-old Robert Jewett of New Richland. It was westbound on Highway 14 and attempted to turn into Christensen Farms when it was hit by a Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railroad train occupied by 56-year-old Jeffrey Schafer and 57-year-old Thomas Behsman, both of Madison Lake. The occupants were treated for minor injuries. The train was damaged, the semi trailer was destroyed. Sleepy Eye Ambulance, the Sleepy Eye Fire Department and the state patrol all assisted at the scene.
