Twins Drop 5th Straight
The Cincinnati Reds scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth during a 6-5 win over the Minnesota Twins at Great American Ball Park last night. The Reds trailed by one before T-J Friedl (FREE-dul) hit a go-ahead, two-run double to put them up for good. Scott Barlow earned his second win in relief, while former Twins pitcher Emilio Pagan (pa-GAHN) picked up his 17th save. Cincinnati is on a three-game winning streak. Byron Buxton and Harrison Bader homered in the losing effort, and Brock Stewart was charged with the loss out of the bullpen. Manager Rocco Baldelli says it was unusual to see reliever Brock Stewart blow a lead the way he did.
The Twins are on a five-game losing streak, sitting at 36-36, and have dropped into third-place in the A-L Central. Game two of the series is tonight in Ohio. Coverage begins at 5:30pm on KNUJ and SAM 107.3.
