Twins drop Series to Washington

(Minneapolis, MN/Minnesota News Network) — The Washington Nationals scored four runs in the top of the fifth during a 7-2 win over the Minnesota Twins at Target Field yesterday. Josh Bell and Alex Call both had R-B-I hits in the inning, while C-J Abrams homered in the victory. Jake Irvin earned his eighth win after allowing two runs on five hits in seven innings. The Nats took two of three in the series and improved to 43-62. Matt Wallner went deep in the losing effort, and Travis Adams was charged with his first loss in relief. The Twins are in fourth place in the A-L Central at 50-55, five-and-a-half-games out of the final A-L Wild Card spot. Minnesota will begin a three-game home series with Boston tonight at Target Field at 6:40 P-M.
