Twins Fall At Home To Nationals
(Minnesota News Network- Minneapolis, MN) — The Washington Nationals scored four runs in the top of the fifth during a 7-2 win over the Minnesota Twins at Target Field yesterday. Josh Bell and Alex Call both had R-B-I hits in the inning, while C-J Abrams homered in the victory. Jake Irvin earned his eighth win after allowing two runs on five hits in seven innings. The Nats took two of three in the series and improved to 43-62. Matt Wallner went deep in the losing effort, and Travis Adams was charged with his first loss in relief. The Twins are in fourth place in the A-L Central at 50-55, five-and-a-half-games out of the final A-L Wild Card spot. Minnesota will begin a three-game home series with Boston tonight at Target Field at 6:40 P-M.
The Twins could see a chaotic week off the field. The 2025 Major League Baseball trade deadline is Thursday afternoon at 5 P-M. The Twins are sitting at 50-55 on the season, in fourth-place in the American League Central Division, ten-games behind first-place Detroit. Minnesota sits five-and-a-half-games out of the final A-L Wild Spot, but teams are in between them and that final slot. So, they are a fringe bubble team when it comes to the playoffs. The big question will be whether the team “sells off” some of its top players for younger prospects, thus suggesting they are out of the postseason chase; or if the team will try to add assets thinking it is still in the playoff mix. Team president Derek Falvey says this is a busy week and choosing between buying and selling is always a challenge.
