Twins Gearing Up For Spring Training

(Minneapolis, MN/Minnesota News Network) — The Minnesota Twins will begin training camp next week in Fort Myers, Florida with a relatively new look. Derek Shelton enters his first season as the Minnesota manager, while former all-star player Grady Sizemore has joined the coaching staff as a first base coach, baserunning and outfield coach. Sizemore says he is looking forward to having a positive impact on baserunning for this team and the plan will take shape as he learns the roster during spring training. Sizemore served as interim manager for the White Sox for part of 2024 and says he can call upon some of that experience to help lead the club. Twins pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report to spring training a week from Thursday with position players mandated to report by February 16th. The Twins have an exhibition against the University of Minnesota on Friday, February 20th and open Grapefruit League play against Boston on Saturday, February 21st. The regular season begins at Baltimore on March 26th. The Minnesota home opener comes against Tampa Bay on April 3rd at Target Field in Minneapolis.
