Twins get #3 Pick in the Draft

(Orlando, FL/Minnesota News Network) — Major League Baseball’s offseason heated up on Tuesday at the Winter Meetings. The day began with a report the Phillies re-signing Kyle Schwarber to a five-year, $150 million contract. Schwarber led the National League with 56 home runs and 132 R-B-Is this past season and finished second in M-V-P voting. The Dodgers will reportedly sign closer Edwin Diaz to a three-year, $69 million contract. In other news, the Chicago White Sox won the draft lottery and will pick first in next summer’s draft. The Rays, Twins, Giants, Pirates and Royals round out the lottery. On Wednesday, the Rule 5 Draft will be held. Teams are able to select players that have not been placed on 40-man rosters by other teams.
