Twins interested in a former player, and a different former player hired by Angels

(Minneapolis, MN/Minnesota News Network) — The Minnesota Twins could be bringing back a franchise legend to lead the team. Matthew Leach of M-L-B-dot-com is reporting that the Twins have held conversations with Torii Hunter about their vacant managerial role. Hunter played with the Twins from 1997 until 2007, and he ended his career with the team in the 2015 season. He’s spent the last two seasons in the Angels front office.

The Los Angeles Angels are hiring Kurt Suzuki as manager. Suzuki spent 16 years as a Major League catcher before retiring in 2022. He spent the past three seasons as a special assistant to Angels’ general manager Perry Minasian. Suzuki has no professional coaching experience. The Angels have the longest playoff drought in the M-L-B. Suzuki played for the Minnesota Twins from 2014-16 and was an all-star for the Twins at Target Field in 2014.
