Twins rally to their 10th straight win, beat Baltimore 8-6 for a doubleheader sweep

BALTIMORE, MD — Kody Clemens delivered a clutch three-run homer in the eighth inning, lifting the Minnesota Twins to an 8-6 comeback win over the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night, completing a doubleheader sweep and extending their winning streak to 10 games.

After erasing a 3-0 deficit to win the opener 6-3, the Twins once again found themselves trailing—this time 6-4—before rallying late in the second game. Willi Castro sparked the eighth-inning comeback with a leadoff single, followed by a steal and advancement to third on a balk by Yennier Cano (0-3). After Royce Lewis drew a walk, Clemens—batting just .179 this season—blasted a go-ahead shot to right field.

Kody Funderburk (1-0) picked up the win in relief, while Cole Sands sealed the deal with a perfect ninth inning for his first career save.

Baltimore’s offense had its moment in the third inning, scoring six runs powered by a grand slam from Cedric Mullins and a solo homer by Heston Kjerstad. But the bats went silent the rest of the way.

Minnesota struck early with a two-run homer from Trevor Larnach in the second inning and built a 4-0 lead before the Orioles’ explosive third.

The Twins dealt with a couple of injury concerns: outfielder Harrison Bader exited with left groin tightness, and first baseman Ty France sat out the nightcap after leaving the opener with a foot issue.

Royce Lewis, off to a slow start at the plate (2-for-23 on the season), reached base ahead of Clemens’ game-winner, helping Minnesota cap off a resilient day.

In total, the Orioles scored nine runs in the third inning across both games—but were shut out in the other 16 frames.

Baltimore sends Tomoyuki Sugano (4-2) to the mound for Thursday’s finale against Chris Paddack (1-3) of the Twins. Minnesota will look to complete a season sweep after taking all three games in last week’s series in Minneapolis.
