Twins salvage a game from Blue Jays

(Minneapolis, MN/Minnesota News Network) — The Minnesota Twins avoided being swept with a 6-3 win over the Toronto Blue Jays at Target Field yesterday. Minnesota trailed by a run in the bottom of the fourth when Brooks Lee and Christian Vazquez hit back-to-back solo home runs to put the Twins up for good. Joe Ryan earned his seventh win after allowing two earned runs and one unearned run on four hits in five innings. Minnesota snapped a three-game losing streak and now sits at 35-30 on the season. Bowden Francis was charged with his eighth loss after surrendering four runs on five hits in three-and-a-third innings. The Jays had their four-game winning streak snapped. Minnesota is off tonight before hosting a three-game hosting a three-game home series against Texas tomorrow night. In other team news, the Twins placed starting pitcher Zebby Matthews on the 15-day Injured List with a right shoulder strain and recalled relief pitcher Danny Coulombe.
