Twins shut out Royals
(Kansas City, MO/Minnesota News Network) — Twins right-hander Joe Ryan tossed a gem as Minnesota beat the Kansas City Royals 4-0 at Kauffman Stadium last night. Ryan earned his first win after holding Kansas City to two hits over seven scoreless innings. He struck out struck out four and walked no one. Minnesota first baseman Ty France went 3-for-4 with a home run and two R-B-I, while designated hitter Matt Wallner also went deep. The Twins snapped a three-game losing streak and improved to 4-8 this season. Seth Lugo was charged with the loss after allowing two runs on five hits in five-and-two-thirds innings. Kansas City dipped to 6-6 and will host the Twins in the final game of a four-game series this afternoon at 1:10 P-M at Kauffman Stadium. Meanwhile, the Twins says starting pitcher Pablo Lopez was diagnosed with a grade one hamstring strain and will likely go onto the 15-day Injured List.
