Twins Snap Skid
The Minnesota Twins snapped a six-game losing streak by crushing the Cincinnati Reds yesterday 12-5 in Ohio. Byron Buxton hit a lead-off home run for the second day in a row before adding another solo shot in the second. Kody Clemens and Ryan Jeffers also went deep in the victory, with Jeffers driving in four runs. Infielder Brooks Lee extended his hitting streak to 18 straight games. Minnesota right-hander Chris Paddack earned his third win of the season after allowing four runs on six hits in five innings. Twins starting and winning pitcher Chris Paddack says the run support helped him.
The Twins are in third place in the A-L Central at 37-37. Gavin Lux homered in the losing effort, and Nick Martinez was charged with his eighth loss after surrendering seven runs on seven hits in two-and-two-thirds innings. The 39-36 Reds had their four-game winning streak snapped. Minnesota opens a three-game interleague series tonight at home against the Milwaukee Brewers. First pitch is set for 7:10 P-M at Target Field in downtown Minneapolis. Coverage begins at 6:30pm on KNUJ and SAM 107.3.
