Twins Spilt With Seattle
The Minnesota Twins scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth during a 10-1 rout of the Seattle Mariners at Target Field yesterday. The two teams had to wait out a rain delay of more than four hours before the game began. Trevor Larnach gave Minnesota a 2-0 lead with a home run in the fifth, while Brooks Lee and Matt Wallner both homered in the big sixth inning. Simeon Woods Richardson earned his third win of the season after striking out six in five scoreless innings. Twins manager Rocco Baldelli says starting and winning pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson was good in this one.
The Twins are in third place in the A-L Central at 39-42. Emerson Hancock was charged with his fourth loss after surrendering two runs on three hits in five frames. The 41-39 M’s have dropped their last two games. Seattle scored only one run total in the final two games. Minnesota will open a three-game weekend series at Detroit tonight. First pitch is set for 6:10 P-M. Coverage begins at 5:30pm on KNUJ and SAM 107.3.
