Twins Take 2 of 3 From Boston

The Minnesota Twins took down the Boston Red Sox 5-4 yesterday win two-of-three in three-game series at Fenway Park. Twins pitcher Louie Varland earned the victory after pitching a scoreless inning of relief. Byron Buxton led off the game with a solo home run, while Ryan Jeffers had a two-run single to tie the game in the seventh. Twins hitters Harrison Bader and Trevor Larnach each drove home a run in the eighth to give Minnesota the lead for good.

The fourth-place Twins have won two in a row and sit at 15-20 on the season. They are seven-games behind first-place Detroit in the A-L Central. Boston dropped to 18-18 on the year, two-games out of first-place in the A-L East, trailing the New York Yankees. Minnesota is off tonight and will begin a home series with the Orioles tomorrow night at Target Field.
