Twins win series in Detroit
(Detroit, MI/Minnesota News Network) — The Minnesota Twins won the rubber match of their three-game series against the Detroit Tigers yesterday, claiming game three 9-4 in the Motor City. Brooks Lee hit a game-tying home run in the fourth inning, and Ryan Jeffers drove in the go-ahead run with a double in the fifth. Austin Martin and Alan Roden both went deep in the victory, and new reliever Thomas Hatch earned his first win in relief. The Twins are in fourth place in the A-L Central at 54-60 and have won two straight games. Spencer Torkelson, Zach McKinstry, and Kerry Carpenter all homered in the losing effort, and Jack Flaherty was charged with his 11th loss after allowing five earned runs and one unearned run on eight hits in four-and-two-thirds innings. The Tigers remain in first place in the A-L Central at 66-50. The Twins are off tonight and will be host Kansas City tomorrow.
