Two Arrested After High-speed Chase in Renville County

Two people were arrested after a high-speed chase in Renville County early Tuesday morning.

The Sheriff’s Office says at about 2am, a deputy made a traffic stop on Highway 23 just north of Highway 212. As the deputy approached the vehicle, the driver suddenly accelerated.

A 16-mile pursuit began with speeds exceeding 100 MPH and the chase ended just outside the city of Renville when tire deflation devices were deployed.

Both occupants then fled on foot but were located and taken into custody a short time later.

Authorities say controlled substances were recovered at the scene and the driver showed signs of impairment.

The 39-year-old man and 38-year-old woman were taken to Renville County Jail with charges pending.
