Two Injured In Head-On Collision

A Red Lake woman was injured in a two vehicle accident Wednesday in Beltrami County. 

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 19 year old Karnica Lea Jourdain was injured when she lost control of the northbound 2017 Ford Escape she was driving on a snow and ice covered Highway 89 in Alaska Township. According to Sgt. Jesse Grabow, the vehicle entered the southbound lane and collided head-on with a 2020 Chevy Silverado driven by 54 year old Christine Ellen Schummer, of Bemidji. 

Both women were taken to Bemidji Hospital and treated for injuries troopers at the scene described as non-life threatening. Both were wearing seat-belts at the time of the accident reported just after 3:30pm. 

Officials say alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
