TWO LAWMAKERS SHOT IN REPORTED TARGETED INCIDENTS

The Minnesota Emergency Operations Center has been activated by Governor Walz after two lawmakers were shot in apparent “targeted” incidents Saturday.  Law enforcement says the victims are State Representative and former Speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives Melissa Hortman  and Senator John Hoffman.  Both were reportedly shot in their homes and at least one report has the lawmakers listed in grave condition.  Their spouses were also reportedly shot.  Lawmakers in the Twin Cities area have been notified and have been told to take extra safety precautions.   The shootings happened in Champlain and Brooklyn Park, about eight miles apart.   Law enforcement say they believe the shooter was impersonating law enforcement and a manhut is currently underway.  The FBI is helping with the manhunt.  Governor Walz is on the scene.  More details will be released as they become available.
