TWO MORE BIRD FLU CASES REPORTED
Two more commercial turkey operations reportedly have been hit with bird flu. The Minnesota Board of Animal Health says they diagnosed highly pathogenic avian influenza in a flock of nearly 33,000 birds in Le Sueur County Friday and a flock of just under 12,000 birds in Blue Earth County, the second reported case in that county. Bird flu is carried by migrating birds both in the fall when they go south and in the spring when they return and is appearing a little early this year. Poultry officials say normally we see bird flu appear in October. Poultry producers are advised to be vigilant with their bio-security and limit visitors to their operations.
