Unemployment Data for January

January unemployment figures for Minnesota counties were released this week by the Minnesota Employment and Economic Development office. The general trend shows an uptick in unemployment from the December data. Stevens County registered a 3.5 percent unemployment rate for January, which is up 0.6 percent from December. Other area county unemployment rates and how they compared to December are:

The overall unemployment rate in Minnesota is 3.6 percent, which is up 1 percent, and the U.S. national unemployment figure is 4.4 percent, up 0.6 percent from December.
