Unemployment Numbers For August Released

Unemployment rates for Minnesota counties for the month of August were released this week by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development. Stevens County has an unemployment rate of 2.5 percent for August, which is down 0.4 percent from July. Big Stone County has 3.9 percent unemployment, also down 0.4 percent from July. Douglas County has a 3.4 percent rate, up just 0.1 percent from July. Grant County is at 4.7 percent, up 0.1 percent.

Pope County sits at 3.7 percent, up 0.2 percent. Swift County is at 4.0 percent, down 1.8 percent. And Traverse County is at 3.3 percent unemployment for August, down 0.4 percent from July.

For Minnesota, the state has 4.2 percent unemployment, up 0.3 percent from July. The U.S. rate is 4.5 percent, down 0.1 percent.
