Update on East Side Park Ordinance
Once again, an ordinance to preserve East Side Park and much of its green space was the point of discussion at the Morris City Council meeting on Tuesday. Three members of the Save East Side Park group presented the Council with three different potential amendments to the proposed ordinance in an effort to allay some Council members’ concerns about wording in the ordinance that might restrict future projects to upgrade the park. A consensus seemed to be building to try to avoid a special election for the ordinance, and the costs associated with that. All three proposed amendments will be discussed at the June 10 City Council meeting. The public will also be allowed to comment on the three choices during that meeting. Council members will have a work meeting June 2 to discuss what option they prefer.
