UPSIDE DOWN CHRISTMAS TREE IN PLACE IN GERMAN PARK
A holiday spectacle is returning to New Ulm as the city’s 40-foot upside down Christmas Tree was installed Monday in German Park. The feature, started last year, celebrates New Ulm’s German Heritage as the tradition dates back centuries to Central and Eastern Europe including regions of Germany. It was originally displayed from ceilings to symbolize the Holy Trinity or to conserve space in small homes. The tree will be lit Friday at 5 pm as part of the new Weinachts Markt in German Park Friday. Everyone is invited to the lighting. The tree will remain on display throughout the holiday season. Last year, the upside down tree was placed by the Hermann Monument along Center Street.
