Vehicle Breaks Through Ice on Kandiyohi County Lake

A Bird Island man escaped injured after his vehicle broke through the ice on Lake Lillian Friday morning.

At Just after 11:30, the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office responded and observed that a pickup pulling a fish house broke through the ice and the vehicle was unoccupied. The front end of the vehicle was submerged.

During the investigation, authorities learned that the driver was able to escape from the vehicle by breaking out the back window of the truck.

The driver was not injured and the only occupant.
