Warriors fend off Timberwolves 116-115 behind Curry’s 31 points to climb back to .500

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Stephen Curry sank seven 3-pointers and finished with 31 points to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 116-115 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday. The victory helped the Warriors hold off a dramatic comeback attempt by the Timberwolves, who had fought back from a 24-point deficit late in the first quarter.

Andrew Wiggins contributed 24 points to the Warriors’ effort, providing a much-needed boost for a banged-up team aiming to snap a skid after falling below .500 for the first time this season with a loss in Toronto on Monday.

For the Timberwolves, Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo each scored 28 points. Minnesota tied the game at 108 with just over a minute remaining. With 12.1 seconds left, after Gary Payton II stepped out of bounds in a backcourt trap, DiVincenzo took advantage with a quick layup to make it 113-112. He then fouled Payton, who missed the second of his free throws. Wiggins grabbed the rebound, and Curry sealed the win with two clutch foul shots.

The Warriors will host Washington on Saturday, while the Timberwolves head to New York for a game on Friday.
