Waterfowl hunting begins this weekend

(St. Paul, MN/Minnesota News Network) — For duck hunters, the marsh is calling. Minnesota’s regular waterfowl hunting season opens a half-hour before sunrise this Saturday. The Minnesota D-N-R reports the waterfowl counts were generally higher than last year. Total breeding duck abundance was estimated at 417,000 which is eight percent higher than last year, but 32 percent below the long-term average going back to 1968. Hunters can find information about required waterfowl stamps and hunting regulations on the D-N-R website.
