West Central FFA Member Wins State’s Top Award

MINNEAPOLIS – (April 22, 2024)  Jaime Johnson, the daughter of Lance and Heidi Johnson of Evansville, and Kristin Johnson of Barrett, was named Minnesota FFA Star in Agribusiness tonight at the Minnesota FFA State Convention. Johnson was chosen from among 395 FFA members who received their FFA State Degrees this year.

Johnson has worked for Red River Sales and Agronomy in Elbow Lake for two years. In that role she has done crop scouting, soil sampling, and has flown drones and performed other tasks as well as helping on the family farm. Her plans include returning to that farm after attending technical college to study agribusiness.

The Star in Agribusiness award is one of four top individual awards given to Minnesota FFA members. Star awards are also given in the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resource Science, Agribusiness and Farmer categories. Compeer Financial Services awards each Region Star $100, and awards State Stars with an additional $300.

The Minnesota FFA Convention is offered in partnership by the Minnesota FFA Association, the Minnesota FFA Foundation and the Minnesota FFA Alumni and Supporters. Throughout the convention, content is available on the Minnesota FFA website, the Minnesota FFA YouTube Channel, on the organization’s FacebookTwitter and Instagram pages and on the convention app. Find the link on the Minnesota FFA website.
