Wild begin Training Camp

(St. Paul, MN/Minnesota News Network) — The Minnesota Wild opened training camp on Thursday at TRIA Rink in St. Paul. The big question into camp is the contract status of star winger Kirill Kaprizov. As of now, his contract his scheduled to come to an end on July 1st so the hope for the Wild is that they can extend him before they get to that point. It’s been reported that Kaprizov’s side turned down an eight year, $16 million offer that would’ve been the richest in the history of the league. As of Thursday, Wild general manager Bill Guerin outwardly expressed zero frustration or panic as they try to get their superstar locked up before the season begins. In other news, Guerin announced winger Mats Zuccarello will be out “for a while” with an undisclosed injury. Both he and defenseman Jonas Brodin are expected to miss the start of the regular season. The Wild open their preseason schedule on Sunday at 4 P-M in Winnipeg.
