Wild slide continues, Jets win 6-2

Mark Scheifele recorded a goal and three assists as the Winnipeg Jets rolled past the Minnesota Wild 6–2 on Thursday night. Jonathan Toews continued his hot streak, scoring for the fourth straight game, while also adding an assist.

Gabriel Vilardi and Josh Morrissey each chipped in a goal and an assist, with Tanner Pearson and Logan Stanley also finding the net as Winnipeg matched its season high for goals. Connor Hellebuyck turned aside 32 shots to help the Jets secure their fourth consecutive win after an 11-game skid (0-7-4).

Winnipeg has now won nine of its last 11 meetings against Minnesota, including six straight games on Wild ice.

Danila Yurov and Marcus Johansson scored for Minnesota, which has gone 1-3-2 over its last six contests. Jesper Wallstedt stopped 14 shots over the first two periods before Filip Gustavsson made eight saves in the third.

The Wild controlled the early play with the first 10 shots on goal, but the Jets struck first on a two-man advantage when Toews poked home the rebound of a Vilardi shot. The goal marked the 900th point of Toews’ career—his first four-game goal streak since March 2014 after entering the night with just three goals in his first 42 games this season.

Pearson doubled the lead by burying his own rebound with 11 seconds left in the opening period. Just eight seconds later, Morrissey blasted a one-timer to make it 3–0, the fastest two goals in franchise history since the team relocated to Winnipeg.

Yurov pulled Minnesota within two early in the second period, but Winnipeg responded emphatically. Stanley scored on a slap shot, Vilardi finished another rebound, and Scheifele beat the goalie bar down to cap the period, giving him the 13th four-point game of his career.

Morrissey’s assist on Vilardi’s goal was also historic, marking his 90th career multipoint game and surpassing Dustin Byfuglien for the most by a defenseman in Jets history.
