Wild snap Stars 11-game point streak with 5-2 Win
Marcus Johansson scored twice and Matt Boldy contributed a goal and two assists as the Minnesota Wild defeated the Dallas Stars 5-2 on Thursday night, snapping Dallas’ 11-game point streak.
Joel Eriksson Ek added a goal and an assist, Zach Bogosian scored, and Vladimir Tarasenko chipped in two assists as the Wild earned their second straight victory following a brief two-game slump that came on the heels of a 12-game point streak. Goaltender Filip Gustavsson made 16 saves in the win.
Dallas, which had gone 9-0-2 during its run, got goals from Miro Heiskanen and Jason Robertson. Jake Oettinger stopped 27 shots.
Johansson put Minnesota ahead 3-2 at 8:40 of the third period, ripping a one-timer from the right circle past Oettinger.
Boldy sealed the win with an empty-net goal—his 17th of the season—with 1:31 left, and Johansson added another empty-netter 50 seconds later for his 11th.
Heiskanen had earlier given Dallas a 2-1 lead at 10:19 of the second period with the team’s first short-handed goal of the season, finishing a one-timer off an Esa Lindell faceoff win. It was also the first short-handed goal Minnesota has allowed this year.
Bogosian pulled the Wild even with 2:30 remaining in the second, blasting in his first goal of the season from just beyond the left circle.
Robertson opened the scoring for Dallas with a power-play goal at 9:32 of the first, his shot from the left circle deflecting off Brock Faber’s stick and past a screened Gustavsson for his 20th of the year.
Eriksson Ek tied it late in the period, knocking in a rebound from a Boldy shot during a Wild rush with 3:50 remaining.
