Willmar Man Accused of Tossing Meth from Vehicle

Charges are pending on a 35-year-old Willmar man after he did not stop for a deputy and allegedly threw drugs from the vehicle as he continued driving.

On Saturday evening, a Kandiyohi County deputy sheriff was notified of a complaint of a possible intoxicated driver. The deputy located the vehicle at the intersection of Highway 71 and Highway 9 northwest of New London and attempted to stop it for traffic violations. The driver refused to stop and drove eastbound on Highway 9 for about 1.25 miles at speeds less than 45 mph. Authorities say the driver had been throwing items out the window while driving.

A K9 subsequently located 21 grams of methamphetamine in a nearby ditch where it had been thrown.

The suspect was ultimately taken into custody.
