WINDOM MAN ARRESTED AFTER MULTI-COUNTY PURSUIT
A Windom man was arrested early Thursday morning after a pursuit that started in Watonwan County and continued into Cottonwood County. The Watonwan County Sheriff’s office says a deputy attempted to stop a Ford pickup at 1:48 am that had no license plates. The pickup accelerated and failed to stop and eventually drove into a corn field. The driver then tried to flee on foot. Officers from multiple agencies set up a perimeter. Watonwan County brought in their K9 unit and the state patrol provided aerial support. The suspect, whose name has not been released, was found lying in a field and taken into custody without incident. The investigation has determined the pickup had been stolen from Jackson County but had not yet been reported stolen. The suspect is being held in the Watonwan County jail pending formal charges. The Watonwan County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the St. James, Windom and Mountain Lake Police department, the Cottonwood and Jackson County Sheriff’s Departments and the state patrol.
