WINDOM MAN CHARGED WITH SECOND-DEGREE MURDER
A Windom man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a shooting in Windom Wednesday morning. The criminal complaint says that around 5:19 Wednesday morning, police were called to a home on 12th Avenue on the report of an assault with a firearm. The caller said 38-year-old Jamie Voelker shot a 70-year-old woman with a small-caliber handgun. She was taken to Windom Hospital where she died from her injuries. Officers were then called to a home on River Road where a caller said a man had broken into her house and was in her downstairs bathroom. Officers found Voelker in the bathtub. He was arrested and taken to Cottonwood County Jail. A preliminary autopsy report showed that the victim had seven gunshot wounds.
