Without Antetokounmpo and Lillard, the Bucks beat the Timberwolves 103-101
MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Kyle Kuzma contributed 19 points and 13 rebounds as the Milwaukee Bucks secured a 103-101 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night, despite missing All-Stars Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard.
With the game on the line in the final seconds, Anthony Edwards’ jumper missed the mark, allowing Kuzma—now playing in his fourth game with the Bucks after a trade from Washington—to grab the crucial rebound.
Gary Trent Jr., who hails from a suburb of the Twin Cities, added 21 points off the bench in Milwaukee’s win, which came as they headed into the All-Star break. The Bucks had struggled, losing six of their previous eight games.
Edwards led Minnesota with 28 points, but his shooting was inefficient, hitting just 10 of 33 shots and 4 of 16 from beyond the arc. At one point, he missed 15 consecutive attempts. Rudy Gobert finished with 20 points and 14 rebounds, while Naz Reid chipped in with 22 points and 13 rebounds.
The Timberwolves were without key players Mike Conley (right index finger strain), Donte DiVincenzo (left great toe sprain), and Julius Randle (right groin strain).
Milwaukee’s ability to remain competitive without two of their stars highlights the depth of their roster, with Kuzma making an immediate impact since joining the team. On the other hand, Minnesota’s sluggish start and rough shooting night contributed to another tough loss.
