Wolves Draft Frenchman

The Minnesota Timberwolves selected Joan Beringer (YO-ahn bee-ron-jzee) in the first round of the N-B-A Draft at Barclays Center. The 18-year-old was taken with the 17th overall pick. Beringer is a French center who played in Slovenia last season. He averaged four-point-seven points and four-point-six rebounds in 47 games. Timberwolves general manager Matt Lloyd calls Beringer a “ball of clay” because he has so much upside potential.

Beringer says being drafted by the Wolves is “amazing.” Minnesota holds the first pick of the second round tonight.
