WOMAN IN CUSTODY AFTER HIGH-SPEED CHASE IN OLIVIA
A woman is in custody after leading Olivia police on a high-speed chase Tuesday evening. A police officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed near Highway 212 and 14th Street in Olivia. The officer made the stop and the vehicle initially pulled over but shortly after stopping, the driver accelerated and fled westbound on Highway 212. Other law enforcement were called in for assistance. The suspect vehicle continued west of Olivia reaching speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. A Renville County Sheriff’s Deputy successful deployed stop sticks and the vehicle eventually came to a stop. A responding deputy was forced off the road by the vehicle to avoid a collision. The driver was arrested without incident on felony charges and was taken to the Renville County jail where she is awaiting arraignment.
