Woman Injured in Renville County Firearms Incident
A 31-year-old Olivia woman is recovering after Renville County authorities received a report Friday morning that she had suffered an accidental gunshot wound to the leg.
The Sheriff’s Office says the incident was reported to have occurred in a parking lot at Southern Minnesota Sugar Beet Cooperative in Renville and the caller was driving the woman to the Olivia Hospital.
Law enforcement and an ambulance was dispatched to intercept the vehicle and it was located near Olivia.
The woman had a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her leg and was treated at the scene, transported to Olivia Hospital, and then transferred to St. Cloud Hospital for further treatment, but remained in stable condition and is expected to make a complete recovery.
Officers recovered a handgun from the vehicle as the investigation continues.
