Woman Rescued from River in Meeker County
A woman from Darwin was rescued from the Crow River in Meeker County Tuesday evening after she was reported to be clinging to a downed tree in the river.
The Sheriff’s Office says deputies arrived and located 44-year-old Rae Kurtz on the river between east of Forest City.
Deputies could only see her face and arms sticking out of the water and the strong current was pulling her under the tree. Deputies were able to pull her out of the current and up onto the downed tree.
The Litchfield Rescue Squad was able to get to their location with a rescue boat and she was taken to a safe location on shore.
Deputies learned Kurtz and a friend were floating down the Crow River on tubes when Kurtz got pulled further down the river by a strong current.
A deputy was hospitalized for exhaustion.
