ZIMMERMAN PRETRIAL HEARING DELAYED

The omnibus pretrial hearing for Randy Zimmerman accused in the first-degree murder of Tabitha Trescott and Justin Reinarts has been pushed back.  Zimmerman’s defense team made the request because the defense had not completed discovery and requested a 30-day extension of the omnibus hearing to complete information gathering before the trial.  Judge Robert Docherty granted the extension to March 16.  Zimmerman is charged with two counts of premeditated murder in the first degree, two counts of felony murder in the first degree, one count of murder in the first degree with a pattern of domestic abuse, two counts of second-degree murder with intent, one count of burglary in the first degree with a dangerous weapon and assault in the second degree.  The first-degree murder counts each carry a maximum penalty of life imprisonment without parole.  Zimmerman is accused of breaking into Reinarts’ home in Hanska November 2 and shooting him and Trescott while they slept.  The 911 call was made by Trescott’s 13-year-old who was in the home at the time.
