Zuccarello has a goal and an assist and Wild hold on to beat Kraken 4-3

SEATTLE, WA – Mats Zuccarello’s goal midway through the second period proved to be the game-winner as the Minnesota Wild edged out the Seattle Kraken 4-3 on Tuesday night.

Zuccarello, Frederick Gaudreau, and Jared Spurgeon each recorded a goal and an assist for Minnesota, while goaltender Filip Gustavsson delivered a strong performance with 33 saves. Vinnie Hinostroza also found the net, scoring on a power play to open the Wild’s scoring.

Zuccarello extended Minnesota’s lead to 4-1 with a sharp snap shot, assisted by Gaudreau and Marcus Johansson. However, Seattle fought back late in the second period, with goals from Brandon Montour and Shane Wright—who capitalized on a power play—cutting the deficit to 4-3. Adam Larsson also scored for the Kraken, while Joey Daccord made 16 saves in net.

The Wild, now 5-5-0 in their last 10 games, sit in fourth place in the Western Conference. Tuesday’s game also marked the return of forward Ryan Hartman, who had been serving an eight-game suspension for a dangerous play. Hartman made an impact, assisting on Spurgeon’s first-period goal.

Seattle, sitting at 4-5-1 in its last 10 games, nearly carried momentum into the third after Montour’s goal with just 12 seconds left in the second period. However, the Kraken couldn’t find the equalizer.

A key moment came early in the second when Gustavsson denied Eeli Tolvanen on a penalty shot, keeping Minnesota in control. The Wild goaltender has now stopped all four penalty shots he’s faced in his NHL career.

For Zuccarello, it was another milestone night—his 79th multi-point game with Minnesota, tying him with Zach Parise for fourth-most in franchise history.
